The website was launched January 4, 2007. The first comic is dated July 9, 2005 because that was (roughly) when the CCP began in Taiwan.
No. Because this site links to the original template sources, and since those sources are generally not kid friendly, I didn't tell them the address for this site.
I use Interlaced PNG (not progressive JPEG as some have thought). JPEG can cause text artifacts and GIF is out dated. Because it's interlaced, you get to see the dimensions of the whole file as it starts downloading, so you know if the image didn't finish loading.
In some cases, I had to convert the original webcomic files to different dimensions and color depths so I could enter text. This made the files swell in size (ex. Questionable Content templates are generally 3-4 times larger than the original). I've recently gone through and optimized all the comics for web use, so they're as small as they're going to get.
There are currently three other places with official CCP content: the CCP Blog, the CCP on DevArt, and the CCP on YouTube. Each of these three locations is meant to provide content to complement the comic site. The CCP Blog contains in depth information on the CCP not found in this FAQ as well as site update information. The Deviant Art account is used to post some of the original comics created by the students and will have comics that haven't been posted here yet. The YouTube account hosts the videos I shoot during the sessions, workshops, and tournament. Think of it as "bonus material."
