Store and Merchandise

The Create a Comic Project now has merchandise! Money raised from the sale of comic books and other items goes toward offsetting the costs the Create a Comic Project's non-profit sponsors incur by hosting the project, as well as toward the development of educational materials.

In March 2008, the Create a Comic Project began to publish its own line of comic books. The comics in the main series contain material drawn directly from the comic project's lessons and contain enough material to use as a basis for a 1-2 hour comic making activity. They're designed with two goals in mind: to equip educators with materials they can use in the classroom or after school programs; and, to make comics children would find interesting to read. The first issue of the main series, Create a Comic Project #1, is an introduction, briefly touching on a number of subjects that will be explored in greater depth with future issues.

Accompanying the main series, there's a secondary line called Create a Comic Project Presents. While the main series deals with how to create comics, the Presents line uses comics to teach children various subjects, such as public health, government, or economics. They're meant to provide educators with materials they can weave into existing course plans as fun, visual supplements. The first issue in the series, Create a Comic Project Presents: Climate Change, was published in April 2008 and illustrated by nationally renowned cartoonist Ryan Estrada. Climate change was chosen as the first topic to coincide with yearlong efforts by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) to raise public awareness of the issue.

Both the main series and special topic series are published through Lulu.com.

In addition to comic books, the Create a Comic Project has also begun releasing its own line of official CCP merchandise through Cafepress.com. These items are designed to be kid friendly prizes that can be used as incentives in class or for tournaments. Each Cafepress CCP store has its own design; the stores and their associated designs are listed below.
